Site information sheet
Orchard Park is a 20-acre site on land attached to Netherton Farm. The site consists of two fields that have previously been used as pasture, surrounded by mature hedgerow.
Orchard Park is located on the eastern edge of Bodmin Moor less than 1 km from the small villages of Rilla Mill to the east and Upton Cross to the west. The parish town of Callington (pop. 6,000) is 8 km to the south east. Additionally, Liskeard (pop. 8,000) is 10 km to the south and the city of Plymouth (pop. 235,000) is 25 km to the south-east.
In November 2022 the site at Orchard Park was granted temporary planning permission from Cornwall Council. Once planning conditions are met, the Ecological Land Cooperative can now create three smallholdings of approximately 3.7, 5.5 and 10 acres respectively. This will include permission for farm stewards to build their own low-impact dwellings, allowing them to live on site. The ELC will also build a communal barn and install off-grid utilities for stewards at the site.
