New stewards needed for ELC farm plot in Somerset

We are excited to share that one of our plots at Sparkford has become available again, after the stewards who were poised to take it on were offered a wonderful opportunity to farm in the mediterranean. Our Sparkford site so far will have a vegetable market garden and an apple tree orchard.

The site is located on the edge of the village of Sparkford in South Somerset, and currently consists of mostly flat grassland field bordered by hedgerows with lime-rich loamy and clayey soil. The plot available is 4.57 acres (Plot 3). The other two plots on the site will consist of a vegetable market garden, and an apple tree nursery. We're looking for another complimentary business to take on the final plot.

We applied for temporary planning in the summer of 2019 but a decision has been significantly delayed by the pandemic. We’re currently in the final stages of the process and are anticipating a positive decision in 2021, with plots being available from spring 2022. As with our other sites, the ELC plan to provide basic farm instructure such as access, farm buildings and utilities for farm stewards, as well as outline planning permission for a small agricultural dwelling on each plot.
