Smallholding plots available in Cornwall

Do you have an agroecological business idea but need land to make it happen? Would you like to be able to live on the land in a supportive off-grid community?

The Ecological Land Cooperative is a community benefit society that helps new entrants into ecological agriculture by providing affordable access to land to both work and live. The ELC started 14 years ago, and now has six sites across England and Wales, which are currently home to nine amazing agroecological smallholding enterprises.

We are looking for land workers to take on residential smallholding plots at our site in East Cornwall. Orchard Park is a former dairy pasture nestled just below Bodmin moor, within easy reach of Callington and Liskeard.

The smallholding plots range from 3.7 to 10 acres, and will come supplied with road access, off-grid electricity, a communal barn, and water supply. Orchard Park has already obtained temporary planning permission to live on site in a temporary dwelling. After five years you will be able to build your own low impact dwelling on your plot.

We want the smallholdings to be as accessible and affordable as possible. We provide 150 year leases which we allow our land stewards to secure with a deposit, which are priced based on the development costs of the site only.

So if you have a land based business idea and would like the opportunity to join a supportive change-making cooperative please get in touch via our website. For more information about the Orchard Park site please read this info sheet.
