Open evening at Orchard Park

We have recently submitted an application for temporary planning permission at our Orchard Park site near Rilla Mill in East Cornwall  to create three residential small farms for three households. If successful, we will create a Section 106 agreement that legally ties the smallholders to operate viable agricultural businesses. If after five years the businesses are a success we will apply for permanent permission. If achieved, at this point the farmers would be able to build permanent agriculturally tied dwellings to a set size using environmentally sustainable principles. The households would also be legally tied to an Ecological Management Plan with an annual monitoring process carried out by the ELC.

We are holding a drop-in session at Orchard Park, Netherton on the evening of Monday 20th September from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, and we would welcome the chance to meet local people. You will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the Ecological Land Cooperative, to find out more about our plans for Orchard Park, and discuss any questions you may have. We will have tea and cake but please note there are no toilet facilities on site.

Directions - From the crossroads in Upton Cross (with the school on your right), turn left - signposted for Rilla Mill. After a mile, on your left, you’ll see a sign for Netherton and one for The Green, House and Cottages. Turn left here. Once you get to the T-Junction at the top of this road then it is best to find somewhere to park on the road – please do not drive up the single lane track. Once parked, on foot you can take the left turn at the T-Junction and walk along the permissive footpath until you reach the top gate where you will find us. You can also walk on the permissive footpath from Upton Cross to Netherton Allotments and that will lead you straight to us. Here is a map of our exact location. We ask that you be considerate of our near neighbours at Netherton and avoid using your car if at all possible.
