Projects
The Co-operative is currently developing its first ecological small-holdings.
Three small-holdings are being proposed for a site in the Mid-Devon parish of Holcombe Rogus. The site, Greenham Reach, consists of two arable and two pasture fields and is a mile from the nearest village.
The two arable plots are suitable for the development of horticultural enterprises and/or for keeping pigs or hens. The grassland plot is suitable to be kept as grassland, grazed, or cut and grazed and benefits from an environmental stewardship grant.
In order to ensure that Greenham Reach is managed ecologically, lessees will be required to adhere to a management plan. The plan sets out how the site will be managed, in detail, across all its aspects, from landscape and ecosystems through the nature of agriculture on the site, to other critical sustainability issues such as resource use, transport and education.
The lease developed for the site prohibits the small-holdings being sold out of affordable use or out of agricultural use.
We are currently developing our planning application. If we are successful we will formally launch an application process. If you would like to add your name to our email list we can inform you once we are accepting applications.
More detailed information about the terms on which the small-holdings will be offered is available on the Terms page.
